Palmenhaus (greenhouse)

The "Palmenhouse" is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful steel-glass structures of its time; it nestles on a wing of the Hofburg (imperial palace) and the terrace looks onto the palace garden (Burggarten).

The comfortable leather sofas in the cocktail bar invite to an intimate tête-à-tête and the restaurant with its red leather benches and Parisian Brasserie atmosphere, to talk business or just to a private stop. The Friday DJ line provides mainly Electronica of the "easy grooves" brand.

History

In 1822 a 128m long greenhouse was erected in the Burggarten. Its back wall was actually part of the old Viennese city wall. In 1901 the old greenhouse gave way to the current one, which with its Art Nouveau ornaments is a true jewel of the architecture of that epoch. The building was designed by Friedrich Ohmann.
