The Third Man

To this day the enthusiasm for the “Third Man” has not abated. Quite the opposite, two separate tours are on offer. One traces Harry Limes steps through winding cobble-stone alleys of Vienna’s historic center. The most important locations are displayed and you learn everything about the thrilling, transcending genesis of the film but also about the 'other Vienna', that of war ruins, the allied occupying powers, the black market and east-west espionage. 
The second tour through the sewer tunnels deep in the bowels of the city holds the promise of a thrill of a special kind.

The private Third Man Museum has an extensive collection of originals from the world over on display: 
historical film posters, billboard photos, film guides, sheet music, autograph cards, about 300 audio and film recordings (shellac, vinyl, CD, DVD, VHS, laser disc, 35 mm, 16 mm and 8 mm). It also includes various memorabilia as well as numerous original documents from the time of the occupation. 
The library displays over 70 editions of the "Third Man", among them first editions from England, the USA, Holland, Germany, etc. In the reading corner many newspaper articles and books about the film and the time of occupation may be referred to.

Heart of the museum is a fully functional Ernemann VIIb film projector from 1936, ― with such projectors the "Third Man" used to be shown in Vienna! There are also technical film accessories as well as a historical music-cabinet playing a shellac record of the 'Harry Lime Theme' ― Anton Karas at his best!!
